According to the guidelines on the implementation of the UKCA mark issued by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy on September 1, 2020, CE certification would no longer apply to products exported to the UK after the UK leaves the EU on December 31, 2020. The UKCA mark would become the new UK product mark from January 1, 2021 (the UKCA mark applies to England, Wales and Scotland, but not to Northern Ireland). Products bearing the UKCA mark may be accepted, recognized and sold in the UK market (Great Britain).

UKCA mark applies to most products that were previously subject to CE mark. Technical requirements (“fundamental requirements”) to be met by the products and the conformity assessment processes and standards that can be used to demonstrate conformity are largely in line with the CE mark certification. The UKCA mark can use self-declaration of conformity in the same way as the CE mark.
