To whom it may concern,
The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has recently issued a circular stating that starting from January 1st 2025, a unified Type-C type will be required for the charging port of smartphones and electronic devices exported to Saudi Arabia. The specific requirements are as follows:
1. Accepting a test report compliant with the standard (SASO IEC 62368-1:2020) titled “Audio/Visual, Information and Communication Technology Equipment – Part 1: Safety Requirements” is sufficient.
2. The technical documents submitted to CQC during the application process should include a self declaration of conformity: committing to standardizing charging ports and meeting performance requirements in accordance with the standards (SASO IEC 62680-1-2:2023) and (SASO IEC 62680-1-3:2023).
3. From January 1st, 2025, there will be a transition period of one year for the above requirements, and mandatory implementation will begin after the transition period ends.
