Overview of Dairy Product GMP Certification
Origin:CHINA QUALITY CERTIFICATION CENTRE

After the “melamine scandal” in 2008, the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the P.R.C (CNCA) introduced a voluntary certification system of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for dairy products in 2009, and issued the implementation rules for the certification, in order to better the quality and safety management system for dairy products and to provide effective legal safeguards. This certification system is applicable to liquid milk, milk powder, and other dairy products. In accordance with laws and regulations, all infant formula enterprises, including overseas manufacturers exporting to China, are required to establish the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system.

Standards for Dairy Product GMP Certification:

GB 12693 Good Manufacturing Practices for Dairy Products

GB 23790 Good Manufacturing Practices for Powdered Infant Formula Food (applicable to infant formula)

Certification Mode

Initial certification + Follow-up supervision + Product safety verification (when applicable)

Validity of Certificate: 2 years

Dairy Product HACCP certification has been integrated into the HACCP certification system after the release of the new edition of the HACCP certification implementation rules in 2021 and is no longer maintained as a separate certification system.
