The standard QC/T 655-2005 for motorcycle brakes has been abolished and replaced by the new standard GB/T 38285-2019, "Brakes for Motorcycles and Mopeds." In response to the changes between the old and new standards, CQC has revised the certification rule CQC16-499474-2010, "Certification Rules for Motorcycle Brakes" (revisions are detailed in the rule’s preamble). The affected product category code is 014008.

Implementation Requirements:

1. New Certification Applications:

Effective immediately, all new product shall be certified against GB/T 38285-2019.

2. Existing Certified Products:

For products that have already been certified under the old standards, the following supplementary tests must be conducted according to GB/T 38285-2019, based on brake type, before certificates can be re-issued:

(1) Hydraulic Disc Brakes:

Seal performance of master cylinder (4.2.1.1), cleanliness (4.2.1.7), seal performance of brake caliper (4.2.2.1), pressure resistance strength (4.2.2.5), waterproof performance (4.2.2.9), and braking performance (4.4).

(2) Mechanical Drum Brakes:

Crush pressure of brake cover (4.3) and braking performance (4.4).

Certificate transition must be completed by 20 August 2025. CQC will suspend non-transitioned certificates effective 21 August 2025 (excluding after-sales replacement parts for discontinued models). Certificates remaining untransitioned by 20 November 2025 will be revoked.

Effective immediately, certification changes may be processed through CQC Online Product Certification Application System.
