From January 2-3, 2025, the International Carbon Accounting and Verification Council (ICAVC) 2024 Annual Technical Exchange Meeting was successfully held in Beijing. As one of the initiating members of ICAVC, the China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) organized and hosted the event. Representatives from ICAVC member organizations, including CQC, TÜV SÜD China, Korean Foundation for Quality, SCS Global Services, China Green Development Investment Group Co., Ltd., State Power Investment Corporation Comprehensive Smart Energy Technology Co., Ltd., CHNT Group R&D Center (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Daikin Air Conditioning (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., and the China Council for the Promotion of International Economic Cooperation's Sino-British Carbon Governance Committee, as well as invited experts from the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), Japan, participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, participants engaged in comprehensive exchanges on policies related to carbon markets, carbon taxes, "carbon tariffs," carbon footprints, and green and low-carbon supply chains in countries and regions including China, South Korea, Japan, the United States, and the European Union. They also discussed carbon accounting and verification requirements and digital practices. Following discussions, representatives from member organizations determined the proposed work and advancement plan for ICAVC and its technical committees in 2025.
As a crucial platform in the field of international carbon accounting and verification, ICAVC aims to promote technological progress and business development in carbon accounting and verification by organizing domestic and international technical exchanges, project cooperation, featured studies, standard formulation, and outreaching activities. It accelerates the dissemination of carbon accounting and verification technologies and experiences, enhancing the carbon accounting and verification capabilities and quality of all parties. Simultaneously, it is committed to advancing multilateral and bilateral mutual recognition of accounting and verification results and international mutual recognition of supply chain carbon footprints, supporting the construction of the international carbon market and accelerating the development of an international green and low-carbon supply chain.
In the future, CQC will continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to jointly advance the efforts of ICAVC, contributing to the improvement of carbon emission accounting and verification mechanisms and addressing global climate change.
