CQC Joins Belt and Road Green and Low-Carbon Initiatives

On December 12, 2024, the Belt and Road Green and Low-Carbon Expert Network Dialogue and the Belt and Road Green Development International Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the "Green Alliance") Partner Exchange Meeting were successfully held in Beijing, hosted by the Green Alliance. Zhao Yingmin, Vice Minister of Ecology and Environment, Guo Jing, Chairman of the Green Alliance, and representatives from embassies of co-construction countries in China attended the meeting, which was presided over by Zhou Guomei, Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. Liu Jiang, Managing Director of CQC was invited to participate in the event.

At the meeting, the Green Alliance and CQC signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Partnership. Zhao Yingmin, Zhou Guomei, and Guo Jing witnessed the signing ceremony on site, which was presided over by Li Yonghong, Executive Director of the Green Alliance and Director of the Center for External Cooperation and Exchange. Moving forward, the two parties will jointly promote the construction of a carbon footprint data information service platform for Belt and Road countries, fully leveraging the platform's functions of data information disclosure, data verification services, and policy and standard aggregation, to provide reliable carbon footprint data for all parties and jointly build a Belt and Road carbon footprint exchange and cooperation network.

On December 11, CQC was also invited to participate in the Belt and Road Green and Low-Carbon Development Dialogue Meeting held by the Green Alliance in Chongqing. Cui Dandan, Secretary General of the Green Alliance, Liu Qin, Deputy Director of the Chongqing Ecological and Environmental Bureau, and Zhou Yi, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Liu Jiang introduced the work carried out by CQC in supporting the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and other departments in formulating top-level design documents in the field of carbon footprint in China, as well as actively implementing and promoting exchanges and mutual recognition of product carbon footprint rules with Belt and Road co-construction countries. He stated that CQC is one of the first member of the Green Alliance, serving as the Chinese convening organization for the "Environmental Laws, Regulations, and Standards" thematic partnership, and as one of the initiators of the alliance's green investment and financing partnership, it provides full support for the construction of Belt and Road green development projects, and participates jointly with the Green Alliance in formulating rules and standards for carbon footprint accounting of key products in Belt and Road countries, building a carbon footprint data information platform for Belt and Road countries, and conducting dialogues, exchanges, and capacity building in the field of carbon footprint. At the same time, it has also been very active in supporting the green development of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and promoting pilot projects for green and low-carbon development.

The meeting also conducted in-depth discussions on the two topics of "Carbon Footprint Promoting Low-Carbon Economic Development" and "International Cooperation Empowering Regional Open Innovation". Industry experts and business representatives from different countries and regions shared their experiences and insights in the field of green and low-carbon development. CQC introduced the practices and explorations carried out in the field of carbon footprint, in conjunction with the establishment of a product carbon footprint management system.


In the future, CQC will continue to rely on the Green Alliance platform, strengthen communication and exchange with partners, and through policy dialogues, technical exchanges, and project cooperation, jointly make positive contributions to promoting green and low-carbon development in countries and regions along the Belt and Road.
