To deeply implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of China and Japan on strengthening practical cooperation in the field of green development, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) of China, along with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan and the Japan-China Economic Association, jointly held the 17th China-Japan Comprehensive Forum on Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection in Tokyo, Japan on November 9, 2024. Zhao Chenxin, Deputy Director of the NDRC, Li Fei, Deputy Minister of MOFCOM, Wu Jianghao, Chinese Ambassador to Japan, Takeshi Saito, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, Keiichiro Asao, Minister of the Environment of Japan, and Kosei Shindo, Chairman of the Japan-China Economic Association, attended the forum and delivered speeches. China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) was invited to participate in the forum.
The China-Japan Comprehensive Forum on Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection, approved by the State Council, has been successfully held for 17 sessions since 2006, becoming an important platform for cooperation between China and Japan in the fields of energy conservation, environmental protection, and green development. More than 800 representatives from government departments, enterprises, public organizations, research institutions, industry associations from both China and Japan attended the forum, focusing on issues such as energy efficiency improvement, electrification and intelligence of automobiles, hydrogen and ammonia energy, long-term trade between China and Japan, and green building, to conduct extensive exchanges and cooperation prospects.
During the forum, CQC introduced its achievements and role in promoting the development of Sino-Japanese trade and supporting the "Double Top Ten" international energy efficiency cooperation initiated by government departments such as the NDRC and METI. They also shared the positive actions and successful experiences of CQC in supporting quality improvement, industrial upgrading, market supervision, and public services.
Climate change is a major global challenge that requires the joint efforts of all countries in the world. Both China and Japan expressed their willingness to further deepen cooperation in the energy conservation and environmental protection industry, carry out cooperation in green and low-carbon technologies, strengthen cooperation in addressing climate change, and jointly promote global and regional green and low-carbon development. They also expressed their willingness to focus on new technologies, new models, and new trends in global green and low-carbon development, and to promote solutions to new contradictions, challenges, and problems faced by global ecological civilization construction, contributing to the joint construction of a prosperous, clean, and beautiful world.
In the future, CQC will fully utilize the exchange platform of the China-Japan Comprehensive Forum on Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection to strengthen communication, enhance mutual trust, and engage in practical cooperation with relevant Japanese counterparts. Through bilateral mutual recognition systems and intergovernmental cooperation mechanisms, CQC will contribute to the development of Sino-Japanese trade and green and low-carbon transformation.
