China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) has recently revised the CQC92-181301-2017 "Implementation Rules for Water Footprint Assessment," involving product subcategory: 092022. We hereby inform you of the revised content and implementation requirements as follows:

I. Major Revisions

1. The revision includes adjustments in section 7 Data Accounting, changed from "CQC9222-2017 Technical Specifications for Water Footprint Evaluation" to "Corporate Water Footprint Accounting: ISO 14046:2014 Environmental Management Water Footprint Principles, Requirements and Guidelines (equivalent to the national standard GB/T 33859-2017 Principles, Requirements, and Guidelines for Water Footprint Assessment of Organizations), GB/T 34341-2017 Guidelines for Organization Water Footprint Assessment and Reporting, Product Water Footprint Calculation: ISO 14046:2014 Environmental Management Water Footprint Principles, Requirements and Guidelines (equivalent to the national standard GB/T 33859-2017 Principles, Requirements, and Guidelines for Water Footprint Assessment of Organizations), and GB/T 37756-2019 Guidelines for Product Water Footprint Assessment and Reporting"

2. "Section 8.2 Assessment Deadline" has been removed.

3. "Section 8.4 Corporate Water Footprint Certificate" has been adjusted to "Section 8.4 Water Footprint Certificate," and requirements for evaluating system boundaries have been added.

4. "Section 10.3 Water Footprint Assessment Report and Certificate Cancellation and Revocation" has been adjusted to "Section 10.3 Suspension, Cancellation, and Revocation of Water Footprint Assessment Certificate."

II. Implementation Requirements

Following the issuance of this notice, the holder of a water footprint assessment certificate may submit an application for certificate replacement to CQC, carry out the certificate replacement process, complete the data accounting work according to the new standards, and issue a new assessment certificate. The conversion of certificates issued under the old standard should be completed by March 1, 2025. Certificates not converted by the deadline will be suspended. Any certificates that remain unconverted by September 1, 2025, will be revoked by CQC.
