‘Jointly Build the Belt and Road, Foster High-Quality Development’ CQC Series Events of BRI Ten-year Anniversary

On October 23, 2023, CQC successfully held the International Business Development Promotion Conference and the Ten-Year Achievements Exhibition, along with the launching ceremony of its new English website in Beijing.
LIU Weijun, Chairman of the Strategic Consulting Committee of the China Certification and Accreditation Association (CCAA) and former Deputy Director of the National Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA), officials from the International Cooperation Department of the State Administration for Market Regulation, Lily ZHANG, National Chair, Quality and Safety Services Sub-working Group of European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, LIU Ting, President of China Household Electrical Appliances Research Institute, LIU Zhigang, General Manager of Beijing TIRT Testing Technology Service Co., Ltd, ZHANG Liming, Director of Certification Testing Institute, Chief Engineer of Testing and Certification, Shanghai Electric Wind Power Group Co., Ltd, Java TOIROV, Financial Institutions Manager, Representative Office of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in China, XIE Zhaoxu, Managing Director of China Quality Certification Centre attended the event and delivered speeches. WANG Guicheng, General Manager of Southeast Asia Regional Company of CCIC Group, LIU Yanbin, General Manager of Japan and Korea Regional Company of CCIC Group, delivered video speeches.

In the “Vision and Actions on Jointly Building Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road” released by the Chinese government in 2015, certification and accreditation were classified in key areas of cooperation. It was proposed to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation on certification and accreditation among countries along the Belt and Road, aiming to enhancing trade liberalization and facilitation. In the same year, National Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA) issued the “Vision and Action for Jointly Promotion Certification and Accreditation Services for the Construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.” As a leading quality service institution in China, CQC has been steadily promoting the international mutual recognition of conformity assessment, accelerating the smooth flow of the domestic and international cycles, and contributing its endeavor to promote the high-quality development of the Belt and Road in the past years.
The theme of this event is “Jointly build the Belt and Road, Foster high-quality development”. It aims to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative and review the significant contributions that CQC has made in the past decade to the construction of the Belt and Road. The event also aims to inspire future efforts in serving the Belt and Road Initiative, and promote the high-quality development in certification and accreditation industry.

XIE Zhaoxu indicated that over the past decade, the CQC has actively conducted policy research related to countries and regions along the Belt and Road. CQC has been directly authorized by multiple governments and has played a significant role in eliminating trade barriers and promoting high-quality economic development. In the future, the CQC will continue to deepen quality cooperation along the Belt and Road, and strive to build the platform that connects domestic and international quality standards. CQC aims to inject new impetus into international trade facilitation and high-quality development in the regional economy.

LIU Weijun, in his speech, fully recognized the outstanding contributions made by CQC in the past decade to the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative. He pointed out that certification, accreditation, inspection and testing have the essential attribute of “delivering trust and serving development.” They are known as the physical examination certificate for quality management, the credit certificate for market economy, and the passport for international trade. They have played a significant role in enhancing trade liberalization and facilitation, as well as promoting bilateral and multilateral cooperation. As the “national team” of quality service organization, CQC has made remarkable achievements in the past decade. LIU Weijun expressed his hope that in the next decade, CQC will have a deep understanding of the era, strong commitment to its cause, and a serious approach to its work. It should focus on the domestic market while keeping a global perspective, aim for long-term development, and be fearless in its endeavors, making the most of the present time.

The representative from the International Cooperation Department of the State Administration for Market Regulation acknowledged the significance of holding this event. In her speech, she pointed out that through the government’s facilitation and coordination, the international cooperation framework has been improved with bilateral and multilateral collaborations. Internationalization of quality certification has provided strong support and injected new impetus into the deepening and implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, promoting regional economic integration, facilitating domestic and international circulation, and building a community with a shared future of humanity. She expressed the hope that CQC will continue to serve the Belt and Road Initiative in the next decade and achieve even greater accomplishments.

After the conference, the attendees jointly launched CQC’s new English website. Setting sail for another decade, CQC will fully leverage its technical advantages to enhance the international influence and discourse power of “Made in China ”and “Certified in China”. Together with various parties, they will chart a blueprint to support the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative, provide services for enterprises to go global, and contribute to the strength of China’s Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) industry in shaping the glorious chapter of the Silk Road.

Representatives from organizations such as the China-Eurasia Economic Cooperation Fund and DEKRA, as well as relevant departments of CQC headquarters, participated in the event on-site. Additionally, more than 20,000 viewers watched the live broadcast of the event online.
