1 Introduction
The Foundation for Food Safety Certification (a non-profit organization founded in Netherland in 2004) developed FSSC (Food Safety System Certification) 22000 for food manufacturers, and had it published on 15th May, 2009. This development is supported by the Confederation of the Food Drink Europe. The scheme is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). FSSC 22000 has gained wide acceptance by food manufacturers such as Coca-cola, DANONE, Kraft Foods, Nestle, Unilever, Cargill, Walmart, Carrefour.

3 Scope
1) Perishable animal products (eg: meat, poultry, egg, dairy and aquatic products)
2) Perishable plant products (eg: fresh fruit and juice, preserved fruit, fresh vegetable, preserved vegetable and pickles)
3) Long shelf life products under normal temperature (eg: canned food, biscuit, snack, oil, water, beverage, noodle, flour, sugar, salt)
4) (biological) chemical products (eg: vitamins, additives and biological culture), except processing additives for technical assistance
5) Food packaging (materials of direct and indirect contact with food)
4 Certification Requirements
Certification mode: on-site audit + follow-up inspection
Certification lead time: it depends on number of employees, the scale of the factory, number of HACCP projects, complexity of production process, labor intensity and number of production lines. Normally, it will be 0.5~1 man/day more based on FSMS certification.
Validity of certificate: 3 years
