Since the mandatory implementation of energy efficiency labels for air conditioning products in 2019, Directorate General for Standardization and Metrology (DGSM) of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) of the Sultanate of Oman have once again announced the phased implementation of Energy Efficiency(EE) labeling programs for electrical clothes washing machines, water heaters, refrigerators in three phases starting from December 8, 2023.
To facilitate effective traceability and verification of product data, the Omani regulatory authority has developed an online registration system called the Hazm platform (currently in the testing phase). Upon formal activation, the mentioned products will be required to undergo technical assessments at DGSM-designated Notified Body and register through the platform to obtain EE labels before being eligible for sale in the Omani market.

Note: Some products must also obtain the Gulf GC-Mark Certificate or the Oman Certificate of Conformity (CoC)
IV. Reminders
1) Manufacturers are required to promptly submit EE label registration applications to the designated DGSM Notified Body.
2) Upon receipt of confirmation documents and EE labels (if applicable) from the Notified Body, manufacturers are obligated to affix the EE labels on products and packaging in accordance with standard requirements.
3) For products that have already entered the Omani market during Phase 1 and Phase 2, once the Hazm platform is operational, manufacturers can provide local importers in Oman with the EE labels obtained from the Notified Body for facilitating the labeling process.
