The latest requirements on air conditioning products exported to Saudi Arabia

To whom it may concern,

Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (hereinafter referred to as "SASO") recently put forward new requirements for air-conditioning products entering the Saudi market. The contents of the notice are now organized as follows:

1.       Regarding the type of Freon gas

SASO asked all the Notified Bodies to include the type of Freon gas used in all( Air Conditioning & Refrigeration) products in the certificate of conformity starting from May 1st , 2019. Recently, the National Environmental Compliance Monitoring Center of Saudi Arabia has issued a list of the banned and permitted Freon gas used in air conditioning and refrigeration equipment (see attachment). From now on, China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) will fill in the type of Freon gas strictly in accordance with the specified list when issuing the certificate of conformity. Kindly make adjustments in time.

2.       Regarding SASO 2663:2021

According to SASO’s Board of Directors’ resolution in its 180th meeting on 08/04/2021 stated the approval of the mandatory Saudi standard update (SASO 2663:2021) for (AIR CONDITIONERS-MINIMUM ENERGY PERFORMANCE, LABELLING AND TESTING REQUIREMENTS FOR LOW CAPACITY WINDOW TYPE AND SINGLE-SPLIT), we would like you to review the implementation plan of it.

CQC has been designated by SASO to become its Notified Body, which can provide various services relating to the certification of products exported to Saudi Arabia and GC-mark certification. CQC will constantly update the policies and requirements on the conformity assessment for products exported to GSO member states. Any consult will be welcomed.
