CQC Invited to the Release Conference of the World's First Zero-Carbon Airport Technical Achievements

On July 25, 2026, the Release Conference of the World's First Zero-Carbon Airport Technical Achievements was held at Ordos Ejin Horo International Airport. Co-hosted by Peking University Ordos Energy Research Institute and Ordos Airport Management Group Co., Ltd., the event was attended by CAS Academicians Zhang Jin and Jin Zhijun, as well as CAE Academicians Li Gensheng and Sun Youhong, together with experts, scholars and representatives from multiple fields. Liu Gang, Managing Director of China Quality Certification Centre (CQC), attended the conference and read out the verification conclusion for the zero-carbon project of Ordos Ejin Horo International Airport Co., Ltd.

Entrusted by Peking University Ordos Energy Research Institute, CQC assembled an expert team to conduct third-party verification for the zero-carbon project of Ordos Ejin Horo International Airport Co., Ltd. In accordance with relevant verification criteria, the team systematically reviewed project documents and supporting evidence, combined with on-site interviews and field investigations, to scientifically verify the expected compliance of the airport as a zero-carbon facility. Developed independently by Peking University Ordos Energy Research Institute, the project adopts transcritical CO- integrated heating-and-cooling energy-supply equipment and soil inter-seasonal energy-storage systems to replace original gas-fired boilers and Freon-based refrigeration systems. Supported by photovoltaic and wind power generation, alongside an AI intelligent computing and smart micro-grid management and control platform, it forms an independently-owned intellectual-property zero-carbon energy technology system featuring "wind-solar-storage-cooling-heating-powe". Verified results show that the airport has reached world-leading standards in renewable-energy utilisation, low-carbon technological innovation, smart energy management and carbon emission reduction performance. It meets the core connotation and implementation requirements for zero-carbon airport construction, and its technical pathway and practical deliverables boast remarkable demonstration value and replicability.

In recent years, CQC has delivered quality-oriented services including annual carbon emission verification, "Dual-Carbon Airport"evaluation and ACA international certification for airports in Beijing, Chengdu, Kunming, Xining, Fuzhou, Yulin, Shenzhen and other locations. It also undertakes annual CO- emission verification for multiple domestic airlines such as Air China, Beijing Airlines and Lucky Air, and provides CORSIA carbon emission verification services for overseas carriers including Cambodia's Lanmei Airlines. Its business covers diverse civil-aviation stakeholders including airports and airlines, spanning both domestic and international markets.

Moving forward, CQC will further leverage its professional technical strengths and international service capacity. Focusing on key areas such as carbon emission accounting for airports and airlines, renewable-energy application and smart energy management, it will give full play to its role as a bridge as a third-party professional quality-service institution. It will support the green and low-carbon transition of the civil aviation sector and contribute to joint global efforts against climate change.
